From the Collection:

The majority of this collection contains materials from the Sam Houston State University KSHU Radio Station. Other materials include a Sam Houston State College Homecoming football program, Delta Zeta photocopied articles, an Alpha Phi Sigma certificate, paper materials from Sam Houston State University (event tickets and the College of Arts and Media magazine), and materials about the City of Huntsville.

Biographical / Historical

Jim Turner was a member of the Texas House of Representatives from the 15th district from January 13, 1981 - March 17, 1984. A member of the Texas Senate from the 5th district from January 8, 1991 - January 2, 1997. A member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Texas' 2nd district from January 3, 1997 - January 3, 2005. Turner was also a ranking member of the House of Homeland Security Committee from January 3, 2000 - January 3, 2005.

Jim Turner served in the United States Army from 1970-1978. He earned his Bachelor of Arts, Master of Business Administration, and Juris Doctor (Doctor of Law) from the University of Texas.

Physical Description

The first Christmas card has a color photograph of the Turner family on the front. The photograph has a white square border with blue stars on the corners. The outside border is red with "Merry Christmas from the Turners" at the top in white text. On the bottom of the card is "Jim, Susan, Ginny & John" in white text. The back of the card provides a holiday and New Year wish with a bible verse and the return address in blue. A white address label is addressed in black to the Sam Houston State University KSHU Radio News Director.

The second Holiday card has a color photograph of the Turner family on the front. The photograph has a white square border with a holly image in the top right corner. The outside border is red with "Seasons Greetings" at the top in white. On the bottom of the card is "John, Ginny, Jim & Susan Turner" in white. The back of the card provides a holiday wish with an invitation to Congressman Jim Turner's swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, January 7, 1997, in Washington D.C. in green. The return address is also in green, and the white address label is addressed in black to "Ms. Kristin Ruth KSHU Radio."
