Biographical / Historical

Originally, biology and natural science classes were held in Austin Hall, but due to a need for space, the three-story Science Building was completed in 1916 and was the sixth permanent building on campus. Along with providing science classes, the building housed the president's office, originally in the Peabody Memorial Library.

The inside of the Science Building was renovated from 1997-1998.

In 2001, the Science Building was renamed the Bobby K. Marks Administration Building in honor of Bobby Kees Marks, a two-time interim president and the eleventh University President from 1995-2001. The Administration Building houses the offices of the university president, vice president, and registrar. Currently, it is the third oldest building on campus.
