From the Collection:

The Wilson Scrapbook and Materials Collection is comprised of a scrapbook, a box of glass slides, and a box of printed material related to the Wilson family of Walker County, Texas.

Box 1 contains a 16 page scrapbook consisting of photographs, newspaper articles, and cards. Box 2 contains four photographic glass slides and one glass slide fragment. Box 3 is comprised of seventeen stickers, five cards, four invitations, four tags, three newspaper articles, two programs and a piece of program ephemera, two v-mail envelopes, a newsletter, and a postcard.

Physical Description

Page 11 contains two black-and-white photographs. The first photograph depicts a woman standing on a porch. The second photograph shows two women standing together on a porch.

The page additionally contains seven passport-photo-sized black-and-white portaits. Two depict a young girl with blonde hair. In one of the photographs, she is wearing a white hat. The third and fourth portraits depict a smiling young woman, facing a different direction each time. A sixth portait depicts a curly-haired woman wearing round glasses. The seventh portait shows a curly-haired middle-aged woman with a ruffled shirt and the eighth, a young girl with blunt bangs.

Page 12 contains a newspaper article, a wedding invitation inside two envelopes, and two name tags. The newspaper article, titled "Announcement Tea At Social Center," is from the "Society." The article discusses a tea hosted by Mrs. John Hill and her daughter Mrs. Richard P. Carroll, in honor of Edna Wilson, who is getting married to James Leon Echols.

The wedding invitation is addressed to Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Wilson Jr., with a postmark date of December 20, 1933. The invitation is for the wedding of Edna Wilson to James Leon Echols for Friday, January 12, 1934, at 4:30 pm at First Methodist Church in Huntsville, Texas. The invitation is in black text and is within two envelopes.

Page 12 additionally contains two name tags tied with white ribbon. On both are handwritten in blue ink: "Edna Wilson, James L. Echols, January 12- 1934."
