Biographical / Historical
Houston's public television Channel 8 was founded in 1953 and had its 25th anniversary in 1978. Charles Pebworth designed a cast-metal medallion in honor of their silver anniversary. Pebworth made 1,000 medallions and provided his signature and an inscription on each medallion.
The medallions were sold for $25 inside the lobby of Moody Gallery, the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Gallery, and 2015-J West Gray in the River Oaks Shopping Center. The proceeds from the medallions went to aid Channel 8's fundraising efforts.
