This collection is composed of three folders inside one legal-sized archival box detailing part of Meredith Garrett York's time at Sam Houston State Teachers College and documents about his teaching profession.

Folder one provides York's commencement invitation, commencement program, SHSTC The Monthly Review-Recitation Schedule 1935-1936, and a spread from an SHSTC football program. Folder Two provides York's Teacher's Contract with Lomo Alto elementary school, the State of Texas Teachers Permanent Certificate from SHSTC, and two empty envelopes. Folder Three provides The Houstonian and The Houston Post newspapers.

Physical Description

The State of Texas teacher's Contract is between Lomo Alto Elementary School and Meredith Garrett York. The contract states York has to teach at the school for seven consecutive months for the 1930-1931 school year starting on September 22, 1930, with a monthly salary of seventy-five dollars.

The contract was signed by the witnesses on August 30, 1930, and approved by the county superintendent on September 12, 1930.
