This collection contains a reproduction of “Southern Illinois Corn Field” by Al Richardson. It was reproduced by The Lufkin Line. The Lufkin Line is a magazine by Lufkin Industries located in Lufkin, Texas. Several of Richardson’s works have been featured on the cover of this magazine. This particular print was on the cover of the Winter 1981, Volume 57, No. 4 issue. Lufkin Industries collected his work, among other artists, and later donated the pieces to the Museum of East Texas in Lufkin.

Biographical / Historical

Al Richardson started creating art as a fun hobby. In 1973, he showed his work at an art convention and was well received. In 1976, Texaco reached out to him and commissioned him to work with their marketing team. In 1977, Richardson was working full time on his artwork. In 1984, Richardson showed his work at a Folklife Festival. He also had his own gallery, Richardson Gallery, though it is no longer operating.
