Biographical / Historical
Each year, on March 2nd, the Walker County Historical Commission hosts a celebration for Texas Independence Day and Sam Houston's Birthday. The celebration begins at the Sam Houston State University. Participants "march to the grave" of Sam Houston in Oakwood Cemetery. Here, a distinguished guest will speak on Sam Houston.
