The Sweetwater, Texas Annual Rattlesnake Round-Up is an event held in Sweetwater, a town located in west Texas, where large populations of rattlesnakes reside. Snake hunters go out into the wilderness and capture as many rattlesnakes as they can find to bring back to the Nolan Coliseum where they are placed in a holding pit.

The snakes are then sent to a milking station where their venom is extracted for use in anti-venom medicines and medical research. Each snake is measured and examined to further research into the rattlesnake species which is given to Texas Parks and Wildlife. Once research is complete, the snakes are skinned and cleaned for sale and consumption.

The event is held each year as an educational experience to raise awareness about the rattlesnake and provide public safety tips to west Texas communities sharing living space with these reptiles.
