Biographical / Historical
Hinton Rowan Findley was born on December 27, 1829. He died March 9, 1909. During his lifetime, he published several books. His most notable book was The Impending Crisis of the South. Although it was originally published in 1857, it wouldn’t gain popularity until 1859. It was published within a condensed volume of other works by Northern authors who opposed slavery. Although he opposed slavery, it was purely from an economic perspective. He believed the United States should be exclusively white.
