Biographical / Historical
The Echo was founded in 1928 under the name The Texas Prison Echo. In 1944, the name was changed. It is published in Huntsville, Texas by the Inmates of the Texas Prison System. Issues are published 10 times a year and distributed to all residents and departments of TDCJ. In 2023, the Echo introduced a digital format alongside the physical print as inmates obtained access to tablets.
