Biographical / Historical
Tomas Rivera was a native Texan and prominent Chicano author. Rivera was a professor at Sam Houston State University in 1970. Rivera also held the chancellorship position at the University of California from 1979 until his death in 1984. Rivera was the first Mexican American to hold this esteemed position at University of California.
