From the Collection:

The Dana Andrews Collection is composed of 29 boxes. The collection focuses on the life, family, and acting career of Dana Andrews, as well as featuring the theater career and family of Mary Todd, Dana Andrews' wife.

Materials within the collection are mainly composed of photographs. Other materials include scrapbooks, correspondence, audiovisuals, magazines, programs, tickets, household documents, a ledger and diary, and materials about the Screen Actors Guild Inc.

Biographical / Historical

For the filming of "Stange lady in Town" the production studios made a replica of the historic town of Santa Fe for how it appeared in the 1870s. This replica town was built near Tucson, Arizona.

Dana Andrews and Greer Garson (Andrews' co-star) toured 5 cities in Texas to heralded the world premiere of the movie. They visited Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth. They were accompained by the Producer/Director, Mervyn LeRoy and later Gonzalez-Gonzalez who played a character in the movie.

Some of the events during their tour included participating in the formal opening of the Headliners Club, touring the new Press headquarters in the state capitol, Greer Garson addressing both of the Texas houses of the State Legislature, being honored at a tea dance on the University of Texas campus, and attending a sponsored luncheon by the Austin Woman's Federation.

Dana Andrews and Greer Garson were interviewed by KTBC (CBS) Radio Station in Austin, Texas. Linda Lee was the interviewer and Jim Coker was the announcer. The interview was conducted in the lobby of the Paramount Theatre.
