The materials in this collection are composed of two boxes.

Box 1 is composed of Charles Lee Hill's scrapbook and photographs of the musical group "The Houstonians."

Box 2 is composed of biographical materials and photographs about Charles Lee Hill's life and music career. As well as biographical materials about his grandfather W.T. Hill's life and time spent in the American Civil War as a Confederate officer.

There are four newspaper article clippings.

The first newspaper article, "Swing Music Added To Course Of Study At SH State College." The article discusses Sam Houston State Teachers College adding swing music to its curriculum. The article also provides information about Charles Lee Hill, who has been added as a faculty member to the department of music as the Director of Popular Music.

The second newspaper article, "Maxim's Will Be Frenchy [-] Lovely Legs Take Eyes Off Big Feet [-] Filing Chief Celebrates," by Charlie Evans. The article discusses the remodeling of Maxim's Restaurant in Huntsville, Texas. The article also discusses the survey results of American women's feet and how they have grown .5 inches in the past ten years. Lastly the article mentions current events, including "The Houstonians" playing at the Brenham Maifest and the Galena Park High School Junior and Senior Prom at the Rice Hotel.

The third newspaper article, "Tooters Toot for Tuition [-] Dance Team at Empire Room Taps [-] Derby Bettors Boast Again" by Charlie Evans. The article mentions that Sam Houston State Teachers College is the only school in the country to give financial aid to members of their dance band. The article discusses the conditions of receiving financial aid and how other colleges and universities are learning to incorporate this into their school's music bands.

The fourth article, "Hill Plans Musician Training In Laboratory Dance Band." The article discusses Charles Lee Hill setting up the Laboratory dance band to train dance band musicians.
