Provenance letters to Barbara Kievit-Mason, University Archivist at Sam Houston State University from Margaret Percival, Jessie McFarland's granddaughter are located within the Provenance Collection.
There are two typed letters to Barbara Kievit-Mason from Margaret Percival.
The first letter is from July 11, 2013. Margaret discusses the original group photograph and her search to figure out the names of the individuals who are not listed or whose name was smudged on the back of the photograph. Margaret mentions she is enclosing an enhanced Photoshop copy of the photograph. Lastly, she provides biographical information about Jessie McFarland, Jessie's great-granddaughters attending SHSU, and one of her great-granddaughters witnessing the burning of Old Main in 1982.
The second letter is from August 20, 2013. Margaret mentions she found a card and ribbons inside a tiny envelope from Beulah Hudson. She explains the envelope has "To Jessie and Daisy" written on the front. "Dear Ole Gals, Thank you so much for all you did for me, Beulah," is written inside the card. Margaret explains she thought Beulah's last name was Thurlson based on one of Jessie's letters. Based on the letter, she explains the Clayton Genealogical Library in Houston helped to determine Beulah's last name is Hudson. Lastly, Margaret mentions she is enclosing another reproduced photograph, another type-up of Jessie's letter with Beulah's name corrected, and some of her mother's newspaper article clippings from her scrapbook.
