From the Collection:

This collection is composed of photocopied materials with a few originals concerning Charles Pebworth's art career. The materials consist of newspaper articles, exhibit materials, postcards, pamphlets, awards, and letters donated by Charles and Nona Pebworth.

Biographical / Historical

On April 19, 1995, at 9:02 am, The Oklahoma City bombing occurred in a domestic terrorist attack. The "Lookout From San Bois" sculpture by Charles Pebworth was in a wooden crate within the Murrah P. Federal Building when the bombing occurred. The crate was destroyed, but the sculpture survived the blast from the explosion.

Physical Description

There are two separate pieces in the clear sleeve. The front of the sleeve has an information piece about the sculpture "Lookout From San Bois," and the back of the sleeve has the Murrah Building Art Collection program.

The colored photocopy of the information piece about the sculpture "Lookout From San Bois" also provides a color photograph of the sculpture. To the left of the information piece is a typed version in a larger font. Above the information piece is "Marble sculpture that survived the bombing of the Murrah Bldg' Oklahom City, OK 1995," handwritten in black ink. Oklahoma in this caption is misspelled by the creator.

The black and white photocopy of the Murrah Building Art Collection program provides information about the opening reception and a list of events. The Murrah Building Art Collection exhibit was in the Chambers Library of the University of Central Oklahoma on November 14, 2000.
