Physical Description
This correspondence is addressed to Professor Rupert C. Koeninger, Department of Sociology, Sam Houston State Teachers College from Sam B. Barton, Department of Sociology, North Texas State University.
Sam B. Barton writes Rupert C. Koeninger mentioning it was wise to turn his case over to the American Association of University Professors and the Texas Association of College Teachers. Barton mentions his condolences about Koeninger's efforts to talk to the regents to turn over his termination.
Barton writes he believes Koeninger has a "very strong case" and if the American Association of University Professors and the Texas Association of College Teachers are unable to put forth a major effort in Koeninger's case, then the associations should get off the business of protecting academic freedom and tenure. Barton also writes that he belives the Board will not overturn their decision on Koeninger's termination considering the regents' character.
Barton mentions he is anxious to go all out in support of Koeninger's case. Barton mentions he has talked with many local people including Jim Riddlesperger about the case. Barton asks Koeninger to let him know if there is any way he can be of help in getting Koeninger to full tenure again.
