Physical Description

The newspaper article, "2 SHSTC Professors Scored for Politicking" is from the Texas Observer published in May 14,1960. The article was written by William H. Gardner.

The article states that Dr. Rupert C. Koeninger and M.B. Etheredge came under fire about their summer employment at Sam Houston State Teachers College from the Board of Regents for participating in political activities. Regent C.S. Ramsey opposed their summer employment but the Board voted 5 to 3 to employ them for the summer term. Ramsey believes they have violated board rules and caused embarrassment to the college by taking part in political races. Regent Newton Gresham is in support of President Lowman's support to employ the 2 professors for the summer term.

The article lists Koeninger's and Etheredge's political activities that were considered against the board rules and dealing with partisan politics according to the article.
