This memo is about the panel report from the Texas Association of College Teachers which is addressed to the members of the Policy Committee from the Executive Secretary, Mrs. Alice Calkins.
Mrs. Alice Calkins refernces a previous memo where President Ballinger mentions a reported case where academic freedom was violated. Calkins mentions an investigating panel was created and composed of Dr. Edmund Heinsohn (retried minister from Austin) and Professor Corwin Johnson (University of Texas law faculty). Calkins also mentions a copy of their report is enclosed. Calkins states this report is only for the Policy Committee and should not reach the press before the meeting with the Board of Regents on May 21st. Calkins mentions publicity could affect negotiations.
