Physical Description
This correspondence is addressed to The Honorable (Governor) Price Daniel, Executive Offices State Capitol, Austin, Texas from Mrs Alice Calkins, Executive Secretary of the Texas Association of College Teachers.
Mrs. Alice Calkins writes Governor Price Daniel calling attention to Rupert C. Koeninger's case and the fact Koeninger's request of a hearning from the Board of Regents was not granted until the last moment. Calkins writes that the Board added a condition for the bill of particulars to be waived in order for the hearing to be granted even though this is going against the Board's regulations.
Calkins mentions during the hearing the Board did not ask any questions or give any reason for dismissing Koeninger from his position at Sam Houston State Teachers College. Calkins states the Board's decision regarding to terminate Koeninger is having an unfortunate effect on the retention and recruiment of faculty members in Texas state colleges.
