The statement discusses the importance of academic freedom, the association's move to censure the Board of Regents and the President of Sam Houston State Teachers College. As well as the move for the association to call on the Texas Governor to appoint Board members who will be fair, for the Board to reinstate Koeninger's status, and to give college teachers the same legal protection as public teachers in exercising their political beliefs.
