The scope of these materials date from 1943 to 2009.
The materials in this box are made up of commencement programs, photographs, a typed story of the All-Girl Orchestra, a scrapbook containing correspondence, group history, photographs, newspaper clippings, high schools programs, invitations, 1998 and 2003 reunion itineries, a typed tribute to Dr. C.R. Hackney, rosters, newpaper clippings and an art gallery pamphlet about David Adickes. As well as a VHS cassette tape over the 1998 reunion.

Biographical / Historical
The Sam Houston State Teachers College All-Girl Orchestra was a student musical group from 1942 - 1946. The All-Girl Orchestra was organized in September 1943 under SHSTC band director Dr. Clint R. Hackney and Eileen Wooten. The organization was intended to replace the All-Boys Orchestra, The Houstonians, which ended in 1942 as male students enlisted to fight in WWII.
The All-Girl Orchestra played at hundreds of events at several locals including high schools, Army and Navy bases and hospitals, outdoor theaters, and the Huntsville Prisoner of War Camp. The group’s music ranged from big band, jazz, to swing. Their performances would include solo vocalist acts, comedy skits, twirlers, and drum majors.
