Biographical / Historical
Lula Myrtle Teague (Cox) was born in Camp San Saba, Texas, in 1882 or 1883 to Hiram G. Teague and Annie Rotelia (also spelled as Rotillia) Picken Griffin. Hiram and Annie were married on September 6, 1880. Myrtle had two half-brothers, Joe and John Teague, two half-sisters, Maggie Teague Smith and Jennie Teague Schwalbe, and a younger sister named Lizzie. The family moved to Sherwood, Texas, in 1887 or 1888.
Myrtle attended Sam Houston Normal Institute and graduated in 1906. She was a teacher in Richland Springs, Texas, until she married X B (Mage) Cox, whom she had known since around 1900. They married on December 31, 1907, in Sherwood, Texas, and had two sons, Donald D. Cox and X B Cox Jr.
X B Cox Jr. married Melba W. Cox, and they had two children, X B Cox III, and Melba Ellen Cox Williams.
