Biographical / Historical
Lucy Mae Rix was born on November 7, 1900, to Frank Nesbit Rix and Mary Amanda Huckaby.
She attended Sam Houston Normal Institute from 1915 - 1918, receiving six certificates focusing on first and second-grade instruction. On August 12, 1918, Rix received her Teachers Permanent Certificate for the State of Texas. Rix taught elementary in Brenham and Austin, Texas.
Lucy Mae Rix was 95 when she died on March 30, 1995. She is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Huntsville, Texas. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society for women educators.
