The handwritten captions of the photograph mention the date as 1899, but the Old Library/Peabody Memorial Library was not built until 1902.

Physical Description
The black and white, rectangular photograph depicts the Old Library/Peabody Memorial Library Reading Room with students at the tables reading. The photograph is mounted on a grey, rectangular mount. The mount has a slight half circle and wavy line border. "Reading Room Old Library- 1899" is handwritten in black ink on the bottom of the mount. On the back of the mount handwritten in cursive and pencil is "Old Library memories 1899."
