Physical Description

The scrapbook is composed of black and white photographs mainly of the SHSTC football team (one photograph is of the Bearkat Den housing) and laminated newspaper article clippings. Most of the newspaper articles are from The Houstonian student newspaper, but one is from the Dallas Morning News, and one is from the San Antonio Express. Within the scrapbook are six loose photographs, three loose newspaper article clippings, and a loose typed letter.

The 6 loose photographs:

- The colorized photograph is of Herbert Charles Muckleroy when he was a young man. - The color photograph is of Herbert Charles Muckleroy and Jack Kyle at the stadium during SHSU Homecoming 2009. - The 1st black and white photograph is of Herbert Charles Muckleroy in a Model A Ford with two young women posing outside the car. Taken at SHSTC in 1954 or 1955. - The 2nd black and white photograph is of Herbert Charles Muckleroy in his Army football uniform, the Karlsruh Rams. - The 3rd black and white photograph is of a car float advertising Pioneer Days along a road on the Huntsville Town Square. - The 4th black and white photograph is of a young woman sitting on the stone steps of Pritchett Field, SHSTC.

The 3 loose newspaper article clippings:

- The 1st newspaper article clipping is a picture of Herbert Charles Muckleroy and fellow SHSTC football players raking and cleaning up the lawn of the Wesley Foundation. The caption under the photograph says they are helping Professor A.W. Yeats in this task and lists the football players' names. - The 2nd newspaper article clipping is laminated. The title of the newspaper article is "Trustees Hire New Coach; Restrict Asst. Coaches Pay" and provides a headshot of Muckleroy. - The 3rd newspaper article clipping is from the Bayou Sun with the title "Sam Houston State to honor former Cedar Bayou athlete" and was printed on Sunday, October 28, 2000.

The typed letter is addressed to H.C. Muckleroy from a SHSTC friend and fellow Bearkat Den roommate. The letter talks about their time at SHSTC together.
