The materials in this collection are composed of two boxes.

Box 1 is composed of Charles Lee Hill's scrapbook and photographs of the musical group "The Houstonians."

Box 2 is composed of biographical materials and photographs about Charles Lee Hill's life and music career. As well as biographical materials about his grandfather W.T. Hill's life and time spent in the American Civil War as a Confederate officer.

Physical Description

There are four newspaper article clippings.

The first article, "Houstonians To Feature Ed Gerlach Arrangement," is by Ed Cooper, Staff Writer, and was published on Wednesday, December 20, 1950. The article discusses the arrangement "Musical Varieties" by Ed Gerlach, SHSTC's most famous jazz music ex. The program took place at the Memorial Auditorium on January 11, 1951.

The second article, "Board of Regents to Discuss Program for Teacher Needs," discusses the Board of Regents and college heads to provide an academic program for teachers' colleges to analyze what public school teachers need. The article also mentions the construction of the Music Building, Field House, and the Student Union Building and the possible construction of a Graphic Arts building, an air conditioning plant, and a basketball gym at SHSTC. The article is accompanied by a black and white photograph of Clint Hackney, President Harmon Lowman, and Charles Lee Hill viewing the construction of the Music Building.

The third article, "500 Hear Houstonians," discusses "The Houstonians" performing in a spur-of-the-moment program that 500 students attended.

The fourth article, "Hill At Band Clinic In Chicago," discusses the attendance of Charles Lee Hill at the Midwest Band Clinic in Chicago to direct his arrangments through an invitation.
