This collection is composed of a reproduced photogrpah, typed letters between Margaret Percival and Barbara Kievit-Mason, a type-up of Jessie McFarland's letter, typed biograohical information about Jessie McFarland by Margaret Percival, and newspaper article clippings about Sam Houston State Teachers College.

Biographical / Historical
Daisy Thorne married Joe Gilbert in September 1900 in Galveston, Texas, right after the historical Galveston hurricane. After their wedding, they moved to Austin.
Jessie McFarland married Franklin "Frank" Potter Penfield, a civil engineer, in 1904.
Jessie McFarland and Daisy Thorne graduated from Sam Houston Normal Institute on Tuesday, June 1, 1897, at 4:30 pm with their teaching certificates. Daisy taught in Galveston until the hurricane, and Jessie taught in Port Lavaca for one year. Jessie and Daisy never lost touch throughout their years.

The biographical information is labeled "Family Snippet," written by Margaret Percival on September 26, 2012 (two pages).
The biographical snippet title is "When Jessie and Daisy Were Expelled From Sam Houston Normal." The biographical letter explains how Jessie McFarland and her friend Daisy Thorne got expelled for dating boys on the "do not date list" and for stealing a horse and buggy on Huntsville's Main Street (they brought it back).
The letter mentions Daisy and her mother surviving the 1900 hurricane in Galveston and how Daisy was married among the wreckage. Lastly, the letter mentions Jessie's marriage to Franklin "Frank" Potter Penfield and her and Daisy's commencement ceremony at SHNI in 1897.
