Physical Description
Lula Myrtle Teague's Sam Houston Normal Institute Diploma was awarded on May 29, 1906.
At the top of the diploma, "Sam Houston Normal Institute" is stylized in a design with a drawing of General Sam Houston. Underneath General Sam Houston is a motto in Latin and the year the Institute was founded (1879).
The diploma is rolled-up and has a piece missing on the bottom left. The handwriting on the diploma provides Lula's name, the date, and signatures from the Principal of SHNI, the Superintendent of Public Instruction and ex officio Secretary of the State Board of Education, and the Governor ex officio President of the State Board of Education.
