SHNI Class, 1896 - 1897
Scope and Contents
This collection is composed of five black and white photographs belonging to Jesse Kinard Burke. Two photographs are of SHNI's graduating class, two are of students and faculty when Burke taught at an institute for teachers, and one is of the students and faculty when Burke was the superintendent of a grade school.

Physical Description
The black and white photograph is of the Sam Houston Normal Institute class of 1896-1897. The class is in front of a backdrop with some students standing and sitting. The photograph was matted and then cut.
On the back is a typed description, "J.K. (Jesse Kinard) Burke SHNI Class of 1896-1897 second boy from right standing, adjacent to girl with ribbons on sleeve." Underneath the typed section is "class A2 1897 #251-125th" in pencil. Also, on the back of the matte is "[?] institute at school" in cursive and black ink.
