Scope and Contents
This collection is composed of five black and white photographs belonging to Jesse Kinard Burke. Two photographs are of SHNI's graduating class, two are of students and faculty when Burke taught at an institute for teachers, and one is of the students and faculty when Burke was the superintendent of a grade school.

Jesse Kinard Burke was a superintendent at a school in Ringgold, Texas. In Ringgold, Burke met his future wife, and they had a daughter named Margaret.

Physical Description
The black and white matted photograph is of the entire student body and faculty in front of their school in Ringgold, Texas. On the front of the matte is "School at Ringgold Texas - Dad a was Supt. it was here that mama came as a bride & I (margaret) was born in this town about 1900 - see back it says 1899 -" in cursive and black ink.
On the back of the matte is a typed label with the description, "J.K. (Jesse Kinard) Burke SHNI Class of 1896-1897. Second man on second row from top on right, behind rows of small children. School at Ringgold, TX. He was superintendent, November 8, 1899." Also on the back are handwritten notes of names and dates in cursive, pencil, black, and blue ink. Most of the writing is faded.
