Physical Description
This correspondence is addressed to Dr. Robert L. Sutherland, Director, The Hogg Foundation, The University of Texas from Dr. Rupert C. Koeninger, Director of Department of Sociology.
Rupert C. Koeninger writes to Dr. Robert L. Sutherland about his threatened termination at Sam Houston State Teachers College. He mentions that he has done nothing to warrant such a dismissal and his odds are 50-50 in spite of the American Association of University Professors involvement, the Board of Regents will not rescind the motion binding President Lowman (Sam Houston State Teachers College). The motion allowed Rupert C. Koeninger to work the 1961-1962 academic year if President Lowman agreed not sign him on for the 1962-1963 academic year.
Koeninger mentions to Sutherland he has developed a good department since he came to Sam Houston State teachers College. Developing more majors for undergraduate and graduate students where they are in demand with both public and private sectors.
Koeninger writes he regrets he has to look elsewhere for a teaching position and if Sutherland can provide any assistance or suggestions it would be appreciated.
