Physical Description
This correspondence is addressed to Dr. Rupert C. Koeninger, Director, Department of Sociology, Sam Houston State Teachers College from Robert Van Waes, Staff Associate from the American Association of Univesity Professors.
Robert Van Waes writes Dr. Rupert C. Koeninger mentioning after their phone call yesterday, he talked with the General Secretary of the association where they both decided not to contact President Lowman who was currently in Washington. They believe it would be too informal to reach out to him in this matter and it would be more apporaiate to wait for President Lowman to respone to their letter from February 20th.
Van Waes mentions the letter cited the 1940 Statement of Principles on Academic Freedom and Tenure and the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents. These cited materials state someone cannot be dismissed without an adequate case and academic due process.
Van Waes mentions this office hopes the Board will reconsider their earlier decision on Koeninger's terminatinon. Van Waes also mentions he will keep Koeninger informed of President Lowman's reply.
