Mitchell is now known as a highly controversial figure due to her personal opinions centering around politics and race.

The second box has three files containing a book on Upton Sinclair, a copy of his journal, and a catalogue of books, manuscripts, and other materials from the Upton Sinclair Archives at the Lilly Libraryat Indiana University.
Valine Hobbs Collection
The materials within this collection feature Valine Hobbs' career as a professor and author. The collection is composed of a poem from The Instructor magazine, a photocopied article from the Sam Houston Alumnus magazine, and a photocopy of a Board of Regents meeting report about accepted professors' retirements.
