Morris Collection of Legal Documents
The Morris Collection of Legal Documents (1859-1882; .5 box) consists mainly of deeds for the sale of land in the states of Texas, Missouri and Tennessee. There is also a bill of sale for a horse in Atascosa County. A Protective and Detective certificate registering a horse owned by Dr. F. I. Morris is a part of this collection. There is also a letter discharging William P. Thomas from the service of the United States. This collection was acquired on October 1, 1971.
Mrs. J. B. Sherwood Lectures Collection
This collection consists of one poster for Mrs. J. B. Sherwood's lecture on European Travel England and the Continent.
Music Sheet Collection
The Music Sheet Collection was collected overtime by various Special Collections librarians and staff. Various pieces were also donated by Jan Cole and pulled from the Mae Wynne McFarland Collection before it was processed. Jan Cole is the niece of John W. Thomason, the room’s namesake.
News of the Nation Newspaper Collection
The News of the Nation Newspaper Collection (circa 1945, one box) consists of 30 individual newspapers that were originally printed as a series to describe major historical events in United States history. The collection was donated by Aaron Wise.
Newspaper Collection
The Newspaper Collection consists mainly of Texas newspapers as well as several titles from other states. Also represented are Centennial and Civil War Newspapers. The Newspaper collection includes both original and copied versions.
Nixon White House Legal Briefs Collection
The collection is composed of a Brief in Opposition of the subpoena issued to Richard Nixon, a Reply Brief that highlights the key points in the Brief in Support, a Brief in Opposition to Plaintiff’s Motion for Summary Judgement, and a thesis by Harry Edward Casey, titled “Executive Privilege and the White House Tapes Dispute”. The Pennsylvania Mathematics Textbook Collection contains textbooks created by the International Correspondence Schools in Scranton, Pennsylvania to teach Mathematics. Each folder contains a single textbook. There are 15 textbooks in the collection.
Peter E. Bean Papers
The Peter E. Bean Papers (1843-1844; 2 folders) contain a transcription of a certified copy of Bean’s will and testament signed on February 6, 1843. There is also a document signed by the Commissioner of the General Land office in the state of Texas granting Peter Bean land in Nacogdoches, Texas.
