Sierra Leone Police Training School Manual

Scope and Contents

The Sierra Leone Police Training School Manual contains regulations and guidelines for trainee Police officers. The Police Training School Manual contains handwritten notes by Joseph Josie, the original owner of the manual. Dr. Sam S. Souryal retired from Sam Houston State University in 2014 and the Sierra Leone Police Training School Manual was part of his personal rare book collection which he left to the University.

Spring Hill Store Daily Ledger Collection

The Spring Hill Store Daily Ledge was used to record store transactions from 1839 through 1941. The ledger is unbound. The pages of the ledger have been conserved. Donated by Dr. James Long, Biology Department, Sam Houston State Teacher’s College (SHSU).

Stephen F. Austin’s “Old 300” Collection

Scope and Contents This collection was purchased and donated by James L. Britton, III. These thirty documents contain original papers signed by a number of Stephen F. Austin’s original settlers, among Texas’ earliest Anglo immigrants. These early settlers were referred to as the “Old 300.” The collection includes writs of partition, estate documents, summons, collection fees, guardian bonds and other documents.
