The Descendants of Grandma Toole manuscript was written in 1957 by Vernon Fitzgerald and contains the history of several local families, including: Louisa Adla Durdin, James Albert Johnson, Colbert Maltimore Johnson, Mary Elizabeth Williams Rhodes, John Nathanial Williams, Tobe Keys, Fannie Keys Fitzgerald, Julia Ione Keys Toole Gross and Nellie Louisa Keys Millstid families.

This collection contains materials regarding American author, Margaret Mitchell. Mitchell was lauded for her book “Gone with the Wind,” for which she won a Pulitzer Prize. Mitchell was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1900 and passed away after a car accident in 1949. Mitchell is now known as a highly controversial figure due to her personal opinions centering around politics and race.
