This collection contains correspondence from a prisoner at Ship Island, Mississippi to Jefferson Davis. It also contains an article by Lee Meriwether regarding his childhood encounter with Davis.

The materials in this collection are composed of two boxes.

Box 1 is composed of Charles Lee Hill's scrapbook and photographs of the musical group "The Houstonians."

Box 2 is composed of biographical materials and photographs about Charles Lee Hill's life and music career. As well as biographical materials about his grandfather W.T. Hill's life and time spent in the American Civil War as a Confederate officer.

The Sexton Family Papers document the career of Texan Attorney, Confederate Legislator, Texan Supreme Court Judge, and United States Commissioner, Franklin Barlow Sexton. The materials consist of personal, professional, state, and federal legal documents covering subjects such as correspondence, deeds, receipts, payment requests, land dealings, and settlement cases. The Newspaper clippings cover topics on agriculture, national defense, oil in Texas, poetry, churches, and Texas history.

Scope and Contents The manuscript collection begins with the personal papers of Henderson Yoakum, who wrote the first comprehensive history of Texas. They include a muster roll from his Cherokee campaign, discharge orders and payment authorizations for his troops, as well as Yoakum’s license to practice law.
